English Learner Education
The mission of the English Learner Education (ELE) Department for Andover Public Schools PreK-12 is to empower English Learners (ELs) to achieve timely and effective English proficiency by providing systematic, explicit, and sustained academic language development.
Key components of our program include differentiated instruction carefully tailored to each student's unique needs and culturally responsive teaching that actively honors their diverse backgrounds. We use ongoing assessments to continuously monitor progress, ensuring our support is always responsive. Our program strongly emphasizes collaboration with families and community resources, recognizing their vital role in a student's learning journey. To further enhance effectiveness, we provide targeted support through small group instruction and offer consistent professional development for educators, empowering them with the best strategies to teach English Learners effectively.
