Henry C. Sanborn Elementary School
Welcome to Sanborn Elementary School!
The Henry C. Sanborn School, built in 1962 and renovated in 1996, was named for a former school superintendent. A neighborhood school, Sanborn has approximately 350 students. Our school faculty takes pride in providing students with meaningful and innovative learning opportunities that promote critical thinking, discovery and a strong sense of community.
Our school recognizes the importance of supporting all students socially and emotionally as they develop an understanding of what it means to be a good citizen. As a school, we use "Sanborn CARES" as our core values in conjunction with Responsive Classroom and RULER.
Sanborn C.A.R.E.S.:
Cooperation: Sanborn students, faculty and parents work together toward common goals.
Acceptance: An important part of Sanborn's culture is bringing a focus on respecting the differences and diversity of others and supporting classmates and the school community as they learn.
Responsibility: Student responsibility occurs when students take an active role in their learning by recognizing they are accountable for their academic and social success. Student responsibility is demonstrated when students make choices and take actions that support the academic and social success within Sanborn's school community.
Empathy: Sanborn students learn to understand each other by putting themselves in another person's shoes, which helps them to develop positive relationships of trust and prepares them to be leaders in the community.
Stick-to-itveness (TM): One of the most important predictors of future success is one's ability to work hard and persevere. Sanborn students learn that we "work hard to get smart."
