Dear Members of the Andover Public Schools Community,

We want to provide you with an update on the status of collective bargaining with the Andover Education Association (AEA). Both Unit A and Unit B bargaining teams met earlier today to continue contract negotiations. 

• AEA Unit B:  The AEA Unit B negotiating team presented the School Committee with a counter-proposal to our October 3 proposal. Following a discussion of the Union’s proposal, the Committee provided a counter-proposal focused on compensation. After some negotiation, the session ended and the parties agreed to meet again on November 8, at which time the Committee will provide a full counter-proposal.
• AEA Unit A:  The Unit A negotiating team presented the School Committee with a counter-proposal to our October 11 proposal. The Committee is reviewing it and will provide a response on November 8; the parties then plan to discuss it further at the next bargaining session, anticipated for November 14.

We are hopeful that both parties can continue working in good faith to come to an agreement that is fair and equitable for all, and we will continue to update the community when possible.
