Class of 2021 Year End Celebrations

Dear AHS Seniors and Families,

I hope this letter finds you and your family well. On May 12th, over seventy-five members of the Andover High School faculty and staff helped us begin our Senior Celebrations by delivering a personalized lawn sign and your child’s cap and gown to you. We hope these items are a sign of the accomplishments of your senior’s time at Andover High School.

As we turn the corner towards the end of this unusual school year, we are working to celebrate your child’s accomplishments and to wish the Class of 2020 well as they take their next steps. This year’s celebrations are like no other and will certainly be unique. With that in mind, I wanted to share with you a schedule of events that has been planned in collaboration with the Class Advisors, the Class Board, the building administrators, teachers, families and town officials. As much as we would like to have a large-scale in-person event, that is not possible at this time. If it becomes possible sometime later in the summer we will be poised to make it happen.

With that in mind, we have created a number of events that will carry on many of our traditional end-of-year celebrations. While some will be virtual, we hope they are just as meaningful in honoring our students’ achievements.

Our first event was held on Tuesday May, 12, 2020, with faculty and staff delivering lawn signs and caps and gowns to the over 420 members of the Class of 2020!

The second event is Wednesday, May 13, 2020.  We will be hosting a virtual Credit for Life fair for the Class of 2020.  We are thankful to the Service Club of Andover for their generous support.  This year’s event will feature a video welcome by New England Patriots Linebacker Brandon Copeland.  Brandon Copeland was recently acquired from the New York Jets and has made it his mission to help students learn to navigate their financial futures.

Our next event will be our traditional “Last Lap.” This year’s event will be a vehicular event and will be overseen by the school district in cooperation with members of the Andover Public Safety departments. This event will occur after the last day of classes for the seniors on Friday, May 22, 2020. The exact time and location of the event will be forthcoming and will take into account the fact that many seniors have AP exams that afternoon.

Our traditional Senior Awards ceremony will be a virtual event and will be hosted by members of the Andover High School administration, faculty, and staff. This event will be a live broadcast.  The links to the broadcast will be sent at a later time.

Senior Week will host a number of virtual events Tuesday, May 26 through Friday, May 29, 2020. Ms. Mitchell, Mr. Aubrey, and the members of the Senior Board will have more details on these events soon.

Finally, in an attempt to ensure that each senior has an opportunity to be photographed in their cap and gown during our traditional graduation season, we will be hosting a Senior Celebration opportunity for seniors and families at the Collins Center from Monday, June 1 through Friday, June 5, 2020 from 8:30 until 4:30*. Details for the our Andover High School Senior Celebration can be found here. Please review this carefully and use the link embedded in the document to make an appointment for your senior to be videotaped crossing the Collins Center stage and have their photograph taken by a professional photographer in the presence of two family members. It will also be an opportunity for seniors to drop off materials and clear up obligations and, at the same time, students will also be given their cumulative school records, health records, the Class of 2020 senior class t-shirt and the 2020 Yearbook!

Wishing you safety and continued health,

Sincerely,

Philip Conrad

Principal
