Andover High School Building CommitteeAndover High School

The Andover High School Building Committee was appointed in the spring of 2022 to expand on prior facility analysis and efforts to make improvements at Andover High School, including the work of the 2017-2022 Facility Study Committee. Through a competitive bid process, the Committee hired the firm HMFH Architects, and, in collaboration with Andover stakeholders, is working to develop options for community feedback for either:

  • an addition and renovation of the existing high school or
  • a new high school

The Building Committee will make a recommendation to the School Committee and Select Board for the scope of project to pursue. Ultimately, Andover voters at Town Meeting will determine the level of investment to make in a new or renovated facility.

Andover has submitted a “statement of interest” (SOI) to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) seeking state assistance for an AHS building project ten (10) times. The state program is highly competitive, and AHS has never been selected. For this reason, in early 2022, the AHS Facility Study Committee recommended to the School Committee a Building Committee be formed to move a town-funded the project toward design and construction.

More information on the AHS Building Committee and its work can be found here.

For both of these projects, community feedback is critical. Meetings of both committees are open to the public and notifications are posted to the Town of Andover website.

Meetings are also videotaped and can be viewed from the Andover TV website.
