Who We Are...

Andover Public Schools (APS) is dedicated to providing creative and high-quality instruction that educates the whole child to prepare students for success in college, career and life. We are known for rigor and excellence in academics, arts, science, and athletics.

APS is focused on world-class, child-centered excellence from preschool to graduation. We have one preschool, five K-5 elementary schools, three middle schools, and a senior high school. 

Andover prides itself as one of the highest performing school districts in Massachusetts, with a current total school enrollment of approximately 5,600 students. We place a high value on class size and our students enjoy one of the lowest class sizes in the area.

  •  97% graduation rate. 96% of students pursue higher education, with 80% attending their 1st choice school.
  •  11.5:1 student/staff ratio, one of the lowest in comparison to similar districts.
  •  APS is classified as “meeting or exceeding targets” for MCAS scores (SY20); the highest classification a district can receive. South Elementary and High Plain Elementary celebrated as a Schools of Recognition in 2019. West Elementary was honored as School of Recognition in 2018.
  •  Per pupil spending: $17,595 (FY19)
  •  At APS, our students hail from more than 60 countries, and approximately 48 languages are spoken in their homes. Diversity: 67% Caucasian, 19% Asian, 8% Hispanic, 6% other or multi race.
  •  Average SAT score: ERW 604, Mathematics 607, well above state and national averages (SY20)
  •  185 AP Scholars, 992 AP Exams- 83% scored 3 or higher
  •  1:1 technology initiative aims to enhance student learning by creating a personalized, student-centered environment.
  •  Numerous state and national awards in the arts, athletics, robotics and academics.
  •  Investment in Infrastructure: High Plain Elementary and Wood Hill Middle School built in 2002, Bancroft Elementary built in 2014, West Elementary approved by voters in 2021, and Andover High School application to MSBA submitted in 2021.
