Students on Bus

The mission of the Transportation Office is to provide safe, reliable, and economical student transportation to over 4,000 Andover Public School students.

The Transportation Office supports both regular yellow bus transportation and special education transportation. In addition, the Transportation Office provides yellow bus transportation for private schools in Andover including St. Augustine’s, The Pike School, and Andover Montessori School as permitted by statute. The Transportation Coordinator manages both regular and special education transportation and school crossing guard service.

Postponing Bus Pass Sales

June 29, 2020

Traditionally, June 1st is the start date for APS families with students in grades 7-12 to purchase their bus passes and incoming sixth grade students would register for their free bus passes for the upcoming school year.

As a result of the COVID-19 public health crisis, Andover Public Schools has decided to postpone the sale or distribution of bus passes for the 2020-21 school year.  We are extending the postponement of bus passes sales, pending guidance from local health officials, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and Governor Baker.

We do not want to sell bus passes until a clear plan for bus service during COVID-19 is developed.  It is important for residents to have a full understanding of the bus service the district will be able to offer for the 2020-21 school year, before they are required to purchase a bus pass.  It is important to note that this process will dramatically shorten the timeframe for purchasing a bus pass this year.  We will update you with this information as soon as possible.

These plans are constantly evolving and the district must be responsive and flexible based on the direction of authorities.

We appreciate your patience.
